Marshall Elementary Music

Marshall's Elementary Music classes are taught by Stacy Root. Stacy Root has been the Elementary Music Director for Marshall Public Schools since 2004. Stacy grew up in Traverse City, Michigan. After being extremely involved in music all through her schooling she chose to pursue and complete a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Michigan State University. While attending MSU Stacy was involved in the Spartan Marching Band, Spartan Brass, Ladies First, an all female 16 voice a capella choir, and many musical theater productions as well as teaching Early Childhood Music classes through MSU Community Music School. Stacy was introduced to the Brass Band of Battle Creek while in college, and for the past ten years has been working for the group. Stacy came to Marshall one year after graduating from MSU where she is not only the elementary music teacher, but is also involved in the Marshall Community Players theatrical group. Stacy has participated in many of the MCP musical theater shows including Cinderella and The King and I. As of September 2007 Stacy has been teaching Music First classes through the Music Center of South Central Michigan's new sites in Marshall and Albion. Stacy resides in Marshall with her husband Jeremy, the band director for MPS, their son Andrew, and their dog. She is currently working on her Masters in Music Education through Michigan State University.
